Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts with Westbank and Peterson Group is introducing the new Living Shangri-La in Toronto. Designed by James K.M. Cheng Architects and Young Wright Architects. Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts currently manages 50 hotels around the world under Shangri-La and Traders brands. In addition the building has a clean-lined and contemporary design with Asian influences, featuring: spa, lounge, retail and restaurant spaces, along with hotel guest rooms and both pieda-terre and "estate style" residential suites.
The hotel will occupy the first 17 floors of a $430-million, 65-storey tower. Furthermore luxury condominiums will be on the upper levels. The hotel will feature also a three-storey lobby with a cafe. Especially relevant is a mezzanine-level restaurant overlooking University Avenue, and Chi, The Spa, the hotel and resort chain’s spa brand.
Divided into three Collections, each more opulent than the next, the Residences suites are located on floors 18-49. The Private Estates suites are on floors 50 through 66, with Penthouse Suites on floors 65 and 66.
As a resident, you have use all of the 5-star hotel amenities including a fitness centre, pool and spa, housekeeping and maintenance, room service, concierge, valet and car service. As a result most of these luxury amenities are included in your maintenance fees, but some are charged on a per-use basis.
It comes as a pleasant surprise that Shangri-La’s maintenance fees run below average for the city and are remarkably reasonable for a luxury condominium.
180 University Avenue has a Walk Score of 100 out of 100. This location is a Walker’s Paradise so daily errands do not require a car. This location is in the Bay Street Corridor neighborhood in Toronto. Nearby parks include Nathan Phillips square, St. Patrick’s Square and Simcoe Park.
